DIY Belly Oil
Jan 23, 2024My GO TO for pregnancy!
Below you'll find the recipe I use for my belly oil! I started using this around 12-14 weeks with my first pregnancy and probably around 8 weeks with my second as my body began to change QUICKLY the second time around.
It leaves me feeling super moisturized without feeling sticky or greasy and it's super easy to make! I'll link the products I use below.
As a note - For the essential oils listed below, I personally use Young Living which I will link below. Another trusted brand is DoTerra. I mention these two brands because any time you use essential oils you want to use a highly trusted brand that is high in quality and purity. Many essential oils you can buy in places like Target, TJMaxx and the grocery store (and so on) aren't tested for quality and purity and often contain fillers or artificial versions of the oil that they claim is in them.
Also, any time it comes to something we put in and on our body during pregnancy there are often a lot of questions about safety! This is another reason we want to use a high quality product during this extra sensitive time. I would also recommend always asking your doctor/midwife and do only what you're comfortable with. This goes for oils, teas, herbs, supplements - you name it!
The oils I use here are all oils I use daily during pregnancy and are categorized as "safe" oils for pregnancy in various research based essential oil safety books.
Recipe:
Start with a 60 ml (2 oz) glass dropper bottle and fill with the following:
10 drops lavender
10 drops frankincense
5 drops geranium
5 drops gentle baby
top with jojoba oil
** Note: Young Living has both regular and "vitaliy" versions of some oils. Vitality oils are sold in a smaller bottle which may be helpful if you don't need quite as much. You can use either one for this.
Also, you can use whatever your preferred liquid oil is, but I chose jojoba because jojoba oil is the closest oil to our skin's own natural oil. I find it doesn't leave me feeling sticky or greasy and it so far (with two pregnancies of use!) has not stained any of my pajamas or tshirts I use to sleep in. Always test it first though before you sleep in a favorite pair or something really silky. :)
